Pitch · Onchain credit · a credit history for people who have none

The first credit score most of the world will ever have, counted a day at a time by a contract: a line that starts at ten dollars and doubles every thirty on-time days, funded by people who back you.

01The problem

Two billion adults have no credit history. Not a bad one: none. No pay slip, no card, no file a lender can read, so the only credit on offer is the moneylender at forty percent a month, or nothing. Microcredit proved these are the best borrowers in the world when the loan is small and the repayment is frequent, and then charged them for the loan officer who collects it.

02The product

A piece a day. You draw a small loan against your line and pay it back in daily pieces, each before the day is out. Every on-time day adds a day to your streak, and the line doubles every thirty: ten dollars, twenty, forty, eighty, up to two and a half thousand. The fee falls with the streak, from three percent to half a percent. The money comes from people, not a bank: your mum, a friend, a stranger who likes a long streak; they own the pool behind you in shares and keep four fifths of every fee. A missed day breaks the streak back to zero, on a public record. A friend can cover a day. A week of silence is written off against the backers and shuts the borrower until it is paid. It plays like a habit app, and it is a credit bureau.

03Why this is only possible on Arc

A dollar-a-day piece on a ten-dollar loan only works if it costs nothing to settle and counts the moment it lands. On Arc a piece costs a fraction of a cent and is final in under a second, so the contract itself can keep the streak, in the dollars people already use, and the money is in a wallet the second it is drawn. No loan officer, no collection, no bureau: the record lives on Arc itself.

04Who pays, and how it earns

  • A fifth of every fee. Already in the contract, already flowing to the deployer. Fees run from three percent per loan on day one to half a percent at two hundred and fifty days.
  • The record. A streak is a credit history any lender, landlord or employer can read for a fee. It is the first one these borrowers have ever had.
  • Backing at scale. Pools of backers for whole markets, co-ops and payrolls, with a spread on the pool.

Ten million people on a hundred-dollar line, turning it over every two weeks at one percent, is two hundred and sixty million dollars a year in fees, a fifth of it to the platform, before the record is read once.

05The market

Microfinance already lends to a hundred and forty million people and is limited by the cost of collecting: a loan officer, a branch, a group meeting every week. Streak collects by the second for nothing and turns every collection into a data point. The people who lack a credit file outnumber those who have one, and every one of them can pay a piece a day.

06What is live today

The eight people on the home page are examples and say so: made-up people, example money, and the same arithmetic the contract runs. With Streak's contract on the registry and a wallet, “Start yours” gives you a real page, real people put real dollars behind it, and everything on it is read from the chain.

07Roadmap

  1. Live nowThe flame, the chain of days, eight worked people, the record, backing, drawing, pieces, covers, breaks and write-offs, and Streak.sol with every function on a screen.
  2. 90 daysA push to your phone an hour before the day is out; a link that lets a WhatsApp group back someone in a minute; the record readable by any app.
  3. 6 monthsBacking pools for markets and payrolls; a lender’s view of the record; streaks that survive a covered day with a cost.
  4. 12 monthsRent, school fees and stock bought against a streak; the record accepted as a credit file by the first bank.

08The ask

A developer grant of USD 60,000 over six months funds the phone push, group backing links, the record API, and the first ten thousand streaks, with milestones at a thousand people past day thirty, a hundred thousand pieces paid, and the first lender reading the record. Draft figure, to be set with the programme.
